I stole this picture from darren's blog. It's a picture of a really long fish! hahaha.. It's either the fish is really near the camera or the fish is really huge!! Look at all the fishes nearby. They are all much smaller than the fish. If this fish is used for fish and chips, the plate needs to be very long. Even if you cut off the head and cook curry, the front part will still stick out of the pot. I wonder what the fish was thinking looking at the camera. It's smiling.
Enough about the fish. Now i'm in the middle of a big assignment. This is harder than all the law assignments i've done because at least with law i know what i was doing. But now i have no clue. I'm writing about the difference in issues faced by indigenous communities living in both regional/rural and urban places. I know almost nothing about it so i hope the lecturer won't be too strict.
Doing research on it really opened my eyes. There was an article in the medical journal of australia which studied 5000 indigenous children and they found that a major factor for ill-health/high mortality was life stress. Life stress being 'major changes in these young people's lives caused by traumatic events such as hospitalisation or the death of someone close to you.' They found that indigenous children were approximately 1000 times more likely to experience life stress in a year as compared with other children. The indigeneous adult-children ratio is only 1/4 of the national figure and their life expectancy is almost 20 years less than their non-indigenous neighbours. I'm not going to talk about disease prevalent rates. I always knew it was bad but never this sad.
Anyway, back to the fish. I'm seriously craving fish and chips now. Like seriously un-seriously serious. Haha i don't even know what that means. Positive plus negative plus positive equals negative plus positive which equals negative.
