the Jincheng theory of a singaporean's advantage in australia
[generalising from experience]

1. Your grasp of the english language will probably be good enough for smooth communication with local australians.

2. You are probably chinese. This will make people think twice about doing anything to you.
Because:
a. China is the biggest country in the world
b. To the locals, they think all chinese have mafia links (e.g. with the hong kong underworld)
c. To the locals, chinese = vietnamese = north korean. To them, all Asian people look the same. So they will get worried cos the largest gang in sydney is vietnamese and the third largest gang is chinese.

3. Since you're chinese, they've got nothing much against you (other than being too smart and taking a lot of the places in top schools). And also most terrorists these days are not chinese. So there's not much reason for them to bear a grudge against you.

4. Since singapore is so small and neutral, they don't see you as a threat.

5. If all else fails, remember singapore got a bigger army. =x
