wow.. just came back from day 2 of encounterfest. the message today was indeed paramount. it really challenges us to lay down our lives for God. sometimes we don't understand what in the world is going on when God is testing us. but we just gotta trust Him. Abraham did not understand why God wanted him to sacrifice his only son Issac. But for the three days journey to the mountain, he still trusted God and never looked back. Issac was just so dear to Him and to sacrifice His son as an offering would bring this man to tears. Young Issac was probably in tears too.. because he didn't want to die. He could easily have said no to Abraham.. or ran away. but he didn't. by doing this, Issac wasn't just giving a sacrifice, he was the sacrifice. he was willing to lay down his life as a living sacrifice for God. he helped put himself on the altar, and not by force. Abraham was sacrificing his only son's life and on the part of Issac, he was sacrificing his own.
